I was thinking this morning about the fact that I will be participating in the Warrior Dash tomorrow morning, and getting excited about doing it with my friend Laurel. Yes, she is a client of mine, but over the past 2 years she has become a close friend.
Laurel came to my boot camp for the first time in May, 2012. Here is a picture of her flipping a tire on one of those first sessions:
I remember her frustration with starting out and having to struggle through the workouts, but I also remember her dedication. She was so consistent and rarely missed a session. Now, let me show you a picture of Laurel that was taken only a couple of weeks ago at a bootcamp session at Anytime Fitness:
Now she is going to do the Warrior Dash. I am honored to be able to do this with her. I hope this can light a spark within some of you! Healthy living is not about torturing yourself by drastically cutting your calories or cutting out entire food groups. It is not being tied to a schedule that requires you to work out for hours and hours every day. Being healthy is figuring out what works for YOU and your body. Find an exercise program you enjoy. Eat clean most of the time, but allow yourself some "treats" occasionally. Be consistent. DON'T QUIT!! Undoing bad habits takes time and patience.
